Semi-Bespoke Production

Over the last year, production has ramped up to create small, exclusive semi-bespoke runs of two of Southerly’s most popular models: the 420 and 480.

Signature Swing Keel System

Both the 420 and 480 models feature Southerly Yachts’ signature swing keel system. With the touch of a button, the keel can be swung up, allowing the 420 and 480 to draw just 0.84 and 1 meter, respectively. This, combined with their twin rudder arrangement, enables access to the shallowest anchorages, providing the ultimate escape from crowded areas. In tidal regions, both yachts can dry out securely on their own bottoms. 

When lowered, the high aspect ratio keels of the 420 and 480 draw 2.72 and 3.12 meters, respectively. This relatively deep draft and optimal weight distribution make the 420 and 480 very stable, capable of holding sail in strong conditions and pointing high. The swing keel can also be semi-raised to improve downwind performance, especially when sailing transoceanic with the trade winds.
