Role Overview

The Engineer will be responsible for the preparation, build, and installation of engineering systems in high-quality yachts, ensuring all work is completed in line with current drawings, specifications, and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and install engineering systems on luxury yachts.
  • Support and collaborate with other trades during yacht construction.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering systems, including hydraulics, plumbing (domestic, marine, grey, black, fresh water), air conditioning, gas installations, engine/gearbox, and final drive installations.
  • Familiarity with mechanical engineering best practices and methodologies.
  • Understanding of marine engineering installation requirements within yacht or recreational craft industries.
  • Knowledge of GRP boat construction techniques.
  • Awareness of current marine engineering technologies and health & safety best practices.

Skills:

  • Ability to build and install engineering systems in recreational craft.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other trades.
  • Comfortable working on ladders, uneven levels, and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and written specifications.
  • Proficiency in using hand, power, and bench-mounted tools, including polishers and grinders.
  • Experience in metal fabrication, including TIG welding.

Experience:

  • Recent experience (within the last two years) in mechanical engineering installations in the yacht or recreational craft industry.
  • Proven track record of fault finding and problem-solving.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum City & Guilds qualifications (or equivalent) supporting relevant knowledge, skills, and experience.
